“Mighty Mite”
1979 Land Rover Santana Series 3 Resto-Mod
An all-stock 1979 Santana transformed into a hardcore restomod — turbocharged 2.25L diesel, new galvanized chassis, WARN winch, twin stainless fuel tanks, and custom aluminum dashboard.
Meet “Mighty Mite.” He was an all-stock original 1979 Santana, and in terrible shape. Now, he’s a Rad Rover for sure!
The general work list:
- Added a TURBO! — I’ve never heard of anyone successfully doing this to a 2.25L Diesel, so I feel we are the first.
- Range Rover Classic power steering.
- New made-to-order galvanized chassis.
- New bulkhead.
- New aluminum dashboard AND gauge-cluster housing made by us.
- New Defender front and rear seats.
- Aluminum radiator and electric fan.
- Wootz transfer-case oil tank.
- LED package everywhere.
- Everything chemically dipped and/or media-blasted and powder-coated.
- 100% custom wiring.
- Aftermarket cab heater and our special-design assembly system.
- Also our design — a clutch-pedal pivot pin for the master cylinder.
- All lines are stainless-braided flex lines for brakes, fuel, clutch, cooling, etc.
- Racor marine-grade fuel-filter unit.
- Twin stainless steel fuel tanks by Pangolin 4×4.
- Made-to-order and modified front bumper with 8k-lb WARN winch — modified Pangolin 4×4 bumper.
- Locking hubs by Forbyn Bros, slightly upgraded/modified versions of the WARN hubs that were discontinued in 1980. AND Forbyn Bros billet-aluminum door hinges — very slick.
- Exmoor Trim soft top, and a made-to-order, absolutely gorgeous steering wheel.
- All-stainless-steel intake and exhaust system custom made by my man John Coopy (a hot-rod builder and magician welder/fabricator) with Magnaflow muffler.
- Heavy-duty clutch pack.
- 200Tdi oil filter housing and Mishimoto oil cooler.
- A massive intercooler.
- Upgraded 140A alternator.
- Upgraded super-powerful starter motor.
An all-around immense amount of modifications, body and bones, was this build. Every part — no matter how seemingly insignificantly small — has been addressed with care, concern, and passion for the pursuit of perfection and quality over anything else.
We take great pride in our work. Patience and persistence render quality results.
